Ugh, I hate talking about the novel. It just feels so full of myself. “Oh, I’m working on my NOVEL. Did I tell you that? I’m writing a NOVEL? Who wants to hear about my NOVEL?” Half the time I just say I’m writing a book-type thing that may or may not suck.
The first section of Hugo & Alice will debut next month, which is creeping up on me faster and faster. Good Lord. It’s both exhilarating and totally terrifying. I’ve never written anything of this scale before, and certainly nothing that was put out for everyone to see online! The last book-type thing I tried to write just sat on my desktop until it was eaten by a virus. This is different.
I’ve been picking away at H&A, trying different things out. I’d gotten stuck, but things were shaken back into place last night. THANK GOD. I was getting very nervous, to be honest.
I feel like it’s at least a semi-decent piece of work. Hopefully, so will everyone else.
Random Hugo & Alice facts:
- 95% of the characters are named after TV or book characters I like.
- It has no chapters, just sections. The sections are named, but they won’t be mentioned in the audio version.
- The (please God, someday) printed version (PLEASE) will have fewer sections than the audio version due to timing and length.
- Alice refuses to let me know exactly what she looks like. It’s very annoying. She also likes to change ages on me.
- Hugo wears glasses when I think about him, but he doesn’t in the book.
- Yes, my car is named after the character. Not the other way around.
I’ve randomly decided that I’m going to post a portion of the novel here for anybody who might like to read it. I’m not telling ANYONE outside this site, so it’s a special gift for those who actually came out here. Thanks guys!
That’ll go up within the next little bit. Go spread the word. It won’t stay up forever…
